In southwestern India’s state of Kerala, a bus station in the city of Kollam made its public debut. This station is specifically located in the city’s neighborhood of Tangasseri (also known as Thangassery), a densely populated area along the shores of the Arabian Sea.
Tangasseri Bus Terminal was built in large part to help reduce heavy traffic congestion in that section of Kollam. This facility was officially opened by Prasanna Earnest (born in 1964), the city’s mayor.
Tangasseri Bus Terminal is operated by Kollam Municipal Corporation. This facility is one of three major bus stations serving Kollam. The other two are a bus stand in the neighborhood of Andamukkan; and Kollam KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) bus station in the neighborhood of Cutchery.
