A newly built station in an area known as Skøyenåsen was opened as a link within the Oslo Metro, the rapid transit system serving Norway’s capital city. Skøyenåsen is part of the borough of Østensjø in southeastern Oslo. The station located there was designed by architect Karl Stenersen.
This facility is one of the 13 stations that help form the Oslo Metro’s Østensjø Line. That line covers a total of 5.6 miles (nine kilometers) between Mortensrud in the Oslo borough of Søndre Nordstrand and Tøyen in the city’s borough of Gamle Oslo. The Oslo Metro in its entirety encompasses 101 stations altogether and a total of 53 miles (85 kilometers).
