A dedication ceremony was held for the second line of Mexibús, a bus rapid transit system in the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City. This area is located within the State of Mexico, one of Mexico’s 32 federal entities.
The Mexibús Line II, as it is officially known, was the second Mexibús line to be constructed and the third to be opened. The public officials taking part in the inaugural festivities for the Mexibús Line II included Eruviel Ávila Villegas (born in 1969), who served as governor of the State of Mexico from 2011 to 2017.
At the time of its public debut, the Mexibús Line II consisted of 13.2 miles (21.3 kilometers) and 43 stations. Mexibús in its entirety now encompasses four lines with 161 stations altogether and a total length of 54 miles (87 kilometers). The accompanying 2024 photo depicts Las Américas terminal station of the Mexibús Line 2; this station is in the municipality of Ecatepec.
