A new transit station between Terminals A and B at Dallas/Fort Worth (DWF) International Airport first went into service. DFW Airport is the primary international airport serving the metropolitan area known as the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex in north-central Texas. This airport, which is located approximately halfway between the major cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, ranks second only to Denver International Airport as the largest airport by land area in the United States. DFW Airport Terminal A station is connected via a covered walkway with the lower level of Terminal A at Door 10.
This station is the northwestern terminus of the Orange Line, a 37-mile (60-kilometer)-long light rail line operated by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system serving the DFW metroplex. DFW Airport Terminal A station is also a key link for both the TEXRail, a hybrid rail line and non-commuter service between the airport and downtown Fort Worth; and the Trinity Railway Express, a regional commuter rail line.
The first train serving DFW Airport Terminal A station arrived there at about four o’clock on the morning of the facility’s opening day. Approximately a dozen people were on board that train. Morgan Lyons, the spokesperson for DART, highlighted the overall significance of the station. He asserted, “This connects all of the region to the world and it connects the world to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.”
In 2019, DFW Airport Terminal B station was opened. A covered walkway serves as a link between that station, which directly connects with the lower level of Terminal B at Door B43, and DFW Airport Terminal A.
