2022: The Start of Operations for a Rapid Transit Station in Warsaw

September 28, 2022

Bródno station on Line M2 of the Warsaw Metro rapid transit underground system first went into service. This station, which marks the eastern terminus of that line, is located in the vicinity of Kondratowicza, Rembielińska, and Bazyliańska Streets in the Bródno neighborhood of Poland’s capital city.  Construction on the station began in 2019.

Those on hand for the inauguration of Bródno station included Rafal Trzaskowski, mayor of Warsaw. The doors for the first train operating at the station opened for passengers at 2:01 p.m. on that Wednesday; this train left four minutes later.

Line M2 covers 11.7 miles (18.9 kilometers) altogether and encompasses a total of 18 stations. The line’s western terminus is Bemowo station.

  1. Bemowo, not Bernowo

Thank you very much for making me aware of that typo. I will make the needed correction to that post. As always, I greatly appreciate your interest in AASHTO’s Transportation History blog.
