2023: An English Town Gets a New Bus Station

March 13, 2023

A replacement bus station was inaugurated in northwestern England’s town of Ormskirk, which has achieved widespread renown as a producer of gingerbread and is located 13 miles (21 kilometers) north of Liverpool. This town is part of the ceremonial county of Lancashire.

The public officials who took part in the Monday opening of the new version of Ormskirk bus station included Robert Swarbrick, a member of the Lancashire County Council. He also serves as the council’s cabinet member for highways and transport in the county. “The new bus station looks great and is a much more welcoming place to wait for your bus than the old one,” said Swarbrick. He added, “One of our big priorities is to provide people with other, more sustainable, ways of making regular journeys than always using their cars, and having good public transport facilities plays a major part in this.”

The current Ormskirk bus station features parking for bicycles and also a total of five bus bays with easier-than-before access for disabled passengers. In addition, this bus station is connected with the Ormskirk railway station via a shared-use cycleway and footpath.
