2008: A Rapid Transit Station is Opened in the Wawrzyszew Neighborhood of Poland’s Capital

October 25, 2008

Wawrzyszew station on Line M1 of the Warsaw Metro rapid transit underground system first went into service. This station, which is located at the corner of Kasprowicza and Lindego Streets in the Wawrzyszew neighborhood of Poland’s capital, was built as part of an extension of Line M1 in the northwestern area of the city.

Andrzej M. Choldzyński (born in 1960) was the architect who designed Wawrzyszew station. He has also designed at least two other stations on Line M1: Plac Wilson station, which is located near Warsaw’s Wilson Square; and Młociny station, which marks the northern terminus of the line.

Line M1 covers a total of 14.4 miles (23.1 kilometers). This line serves 21 stations altogether.
