2010: The Inauguration of a Major Maintenance Facility for Trains in New South Wales

July 24, 2010

In the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW), a large-scale facility for the maintenance of trains made its debut in the Western Sydney suburb of Auburn. The Auburn Maintenance Centre (AMC) was officially opened by John Robertson (born in 1962), who had become NSW minister for transport on May 21 of that year and would serve in this position until March 28, 2011.

AMC, which is owned by the government agency Transport Manager of NSW, has staff working around the clock to provide maintenance and technical support for trains in that part of Australia. The trains maintained by this facility include the A, B, and M set fleets of Sydney Trains, the operator of various suburban and intercity transit services in the Greater Sydney metropolitan area.
