2010: Construction Begins on a Major Highway in Morocco

April 12, 2010

King Mohammed VI of Morocco inaugurated the construction of a major highway in that North African country. This highway, which is officially designated as A4 motorway, was completed in 2015.

Based in the northern section of Morocco, A4 motorway covers 107 miles (173 kilometers) between the town and municipality of Berrechid in the Casablanca- Settat administrative region and the city of Beni Mallal in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra administrative region.

A4 motorway has become widely known as the Berrechid-Beni Mellal expressway, and it was built in large part to both help bolster the economic development of the Bénit Mellal-Khénifra administrative region and reduce traffic congestion on National Route 11 in that area of Morocco.
