In the central part of Finland’s capital city, a newly built station in the district of Ruoholahti was opened for public use. Ruoholahti metro station is served by lines M1 and M2 of the Helsinki Metro, the northernmost metro system in the world. This underground station was designed by architects Jouko Kontio and Seppo Kilpiä.
Ruoholahti metro station has parking facilities available for 72 bicycles and 140 automobiles. In addition, this station is connected with Helsinki tram line 8 and Helsinki buses 15, 20, and 20N. Ruoholahti metro station was the western endpoint of the Helsinki Metro until an underground station in the city’s district of Matinkylä first went into service on November 18, 2017.
