2017: The Official Introduction of Aubin Grove Railway Station in Western Australia

Aubin Grove railway station in the vicinity of the state of Western Australia’s capital city of Perth made its official debut. This station — located within the median of the Kwinana Freeway — serves the Perth suburbs of Atwell, Aubin Grove, Hammond Park, and Success. Aubin Grove railway station is part of the 44-mile (70.8-kilometer)-long Mandurah line (also known as the Southern Suburbs Railway), which serves as a major link between Perth and the coastal city of Mandurah. Along with providing train service, Aubin Grove railway station has a bus interchange. This interchange encompasses four bus stands altogether and a total of seven regular bus routes.

Aubin Grove railway station was formally opened by Mark McGowan (born in 1967), Western Australia’s premier; and Rita Saffioti (born in 1972), the state’s minister for transport. (They both served in their respective positions from 2017 to 2023.) The first train serving the station arrived there that 10:56 that morning.

In the time since its opening, Aubin Grove railway station has won several awards. These include the Civil Contractors Federation Earth Award; Master Builders Australia Excellence in Construction Award for Best Government Building; Australian Institute of Building Professional Excellence in Building Award; and Australian Institute of Building Professional Excellence in Building Award for Infrastructure.
