Operations began for Aviation/Century station on the C and K lines of Metro Rail, the urban rail transit system serving Los Angeles County. This elevated light rail station is located at the intersection of Aviation Boulevard and Century Boulevard in the Westchester neighborhood of the city of Los Angeles.
Aviation/Century station features artwork created by Sherin Guirguis (born in 1974). A visual artist based in Los Angeles, the Egyptian-born Guirguis has highlighted why rail stations in that part of California resonate so much with her. “As a daily Metro user, I experience the convergence of people from a multitude of backgrounds,” she stated. “I consider the train platform a gateway and threshold for riders as they connect one part of their day with the next. It is a place where the diversity of the city is highlighted and where the interaction between its citizens and visitors is most dynamic.”
Aviation/Century station was the newest Metro Rail station until the inauguration of the intermodal transport hub LAX/Metro Transit Center (likewise on the C and K lines in Westchester) on June 6, 2025. (The accompanying photo of Aviation/Century station was taken on its opening day.)
